
Kelly is currently a member of the Snellville City Council
after being elected last November to fill the seat of Chad
Smith. Kelly is a local attorney with her office in Snellville
next to Bruster's Ice Cream. She is also the founder of the
Snellville Arts Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated
to building a fine arts facility in Snellville. This past summer
Kelly was honored to be an adjunct professor at the new
Georgia Gwinnett College.
Kelly is the daughter of Tom and Carol Kautz. Carol
recently retired from a long career in education. She taught
P.E. for over twenty years at Lilburn Middle School, and
seven years at St. John Neumann Catholic School. Tom is
the former manager of the old Snellville Hardware and
currently works with Kelly in her legal practice.
Kelly grew up in the Snellville area. She is a graduate of
Brookwood High School. While at Brookwood, Kelly was
very involved in the community. Kelly served on several
task forces in Gwinnett County and was recognized as an
Outstanding Georgia Citizen by former Governor Zell Miller.
After high school, Kelly moved to Athens to attend the
University of Georgia. While in Athens, she continued her
commitment to the community by working with the Athens
Downtown Development Authority, the UGA Alumni
Assocation and the Student Government to better
community/university relations.
Kelly graduated Cum Laude from UGA with a degree in
Political Science. Kelly also went on to graduate from UGA
with her Juris Doctorate degree. She was inducted as a
member of Phi Beta Kappa and recognized in both Who’s
Who Among American Colleges and Universities and Who’s
Who Among Law Schools. She is currently a member of
Who's Who for Lawyers and Women.
During law school Kelly worked for the Clarke County
District Attorney’s office prosecuting juvenile cases. After
law school she was awarded a clerkship in the Northern
Judicial Circuit. After her clerkship Kelly returned to
prosecution. She worked in the District Attorney’s Office in
Walton County prosecuting both misdemeanor and felony
cases.
Currently, Kelly resides in the Summit Chase community.
Through her legal practice Kelly is dedicated to helping
Snellville residents with all of their legal needs. Kelly stays
involved in the community through her membership in
organizations such as the South Gwinnett Business
Women's Association, Snellville Commerce Club, University
of Georgia Alumni Association and Summit Chase HOA and
country club. Kelly is a lifelong member of St. John
Neumann Catholic Church.
Prior to being elected to City Council Kelly served on the
Snellville Planning Commission to help control development
and zoning in Snellville.
Kelly hopes to utilize her upbringing, experiences and legal
knowledge to continue serving on the Snellville City Council
and work for the residents of the city.
